Cirque Du Soleil

Tickets are on sale for Alegria a Cirque Du Soleil show!

The show is June 16th - June 20th. You can find out more information about the venue and tickets on Berrycenter.net. I am so excited about this show! I have seen a total for 3 Cirque Du Soleil shows, Quidam, Corteo and Kooza. Each show was breathtaking and very interesting. The way the stories are portrayed you have to stay tuned in or else you’ll miss something. The dance and athleticism is amazing.

Alegria is a mood, a state of mind. It’s the power and the handing down of power over time, the evolution from ancient monarchies to modern democracies, old age and youth.

The clip below has me really stoked:

Free Press Summer Fest 2010 is this weekend!

This music and arts festival will be held June 5th and 6th at Buffalo Bayou’s Eleanor Tinsley Park and will feature more than 50+ national and local musical performers, visual arts and games. It will be from 12pm to 10pm both nights.

This year is the Grammy Award winning band The Flaming Lips will be on stage. The overall lineup is incorporating a wider geographic range. The festival welcomes the addition of a third stage and an exciting expansion of the scope and area of artist installations. Also, festival-goers can take a break from the heat and browse dozens of local artisan booths, cool off in one of the misting tents and grab an icy cold adult beverage in the shaded beer garden.

This event is going to be huge! I can’t wait to see what other musicians they have brought in for this festival. You can find out more about this event by visiting VisitHoustonTexas.com

Did you go to this festival last year?

Best Sushi in Town

Edojin

I went to Edojin yesterday and the sushi was yummy! I am vegetarian and I don’t eat seafood. I split Edamame and Tempura for appetizers which were delicious. I know you can’t really go wrong making Edamame. The Tempura was perfectly cooked and the veggies tasted fresh. For my meal, I asked them to make me a special vegetarian role. It had cucumber, carrots and mushrooms in it with brown rice which was delicious. Everything tasted very fresh. My friend eats meat; and he ordered Rocky Mountain Roll and Volcano Roll. He loved both of them.

We will definitely be coming here again. The chef was also very helpful and kind. We sat at the bar so he would give us samples to taste while we were waiting on our food.

The restaurant is located at 12344 Barker Cypress Rd. 77429

Have you eaten at Edojin before? What is your favorite item on the menu?

“It isn’t what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about.”
Dale Carnegie

In every moment, we have a decision to be happy or unhappy. We can look at the positive or dwell on the negative; it all takes up the same amount of energy. We all get in bad moods sometimes and it’s hard to pull out of it. Below is list of things I like to do when I am feeling unhappy:

  • Write a gratitude list
  • Call a friend
  • Help another person
  • Meditate
  • Workout

What do you do to make yourself happy?

American Idol is finally down to its Top 3 contestants.

I haven’t been watching very closely until the last few weeks. The 3 contestants that are remaining are Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, and Lee DeWyze. They are all very talented, it blows me away how amazing they can sing. Tonight one of them will get voted off.

5 Ways to Keep Your Mind Sharp

I was talking to my friend about how we do the same routine every day. We got into a discussion about how we keep our minds from getting bored. At the end of my day I like to read books, this is a great exercise for the mind. I also like to meditate because this helps my mind focus and quiet down, I think that’s a very important skill to attain.

She told me that she had been struggling with this and found a great article about ways to keep your mind sharp. I read the article and definitely thought it was helpful. Below are 5 tips that are most useful:

  • Do a brain teaser. Working crossword puzzles or doing sodukus helps get the mind going
  • Relax. Stress can overwhelm you brain. Try yoga or meditation.
  • Eat Fish. Essential fatty acids, such as Omega 3s, are critical to brain function.
  • Get Your Rest. When we don’t sleep, a recent study found, proteins build up on synapses, possibly making it hard to think and learn new things.
  • Eat regularly. This gives the brain a constant flow of energy through out the day.

What are other ways you keep your mind sharp?

3 Tips to Stop Worrying

Hello to all the worriers out there!

Do you find yourself constantly worrying? I used to be like that, I would even do work in my sleep. That’s when I had to put a stop to it. I was talking to a friend about this and she had some great suggestions on ways to let things go. The suggestions that I have found most useful are:

  • Listen to a calming CD. There are plenty of relaxation CDs out there to pick from. My favorite is Marianne Williamson. The CD has meditations for all aspects of live and really helps me stop the worrying.
  • Journal. The best thing to do is get out all of the compulsive thoughts. I love to journal; it is very personal, no one can read it so I can get everything out without feeling I might sound stupid.
  • Yoga. Exercise always helps your body release stress. For me, when I do Yoga I forget about everything because I am concentrating to hard on the poses. I also like to box, which I know is opposite type of exercise but it works.

What are other tips you have to stop stressing?

Have you seen Iron Man 2?

If not, make sure you go and watch it. The movie was action filled and had me at the edge of my seat the whole time. I usually get sleepy or tired of sitting, but I surprisingly didn’t.

If you have seen the movie, what was your favorite part?
