“It isn’t what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about.”
Dale Carnegie
In every moment, we have a decision to be happy or unhappy. We can look at the positive or dwell on the negative; it all takes up the same amount of energy. We all get in bad moods sometimes and it’s hard to pull out of it. Below is list of things I like to do when I am feeling unhappy:
- Write a gratitude list
- Call a friend
- Help another person
- Meditate
- Workout
What do you do to make yourself happy?

This Saturday is the Young Talent Showcase at the Houston Premium Outlets.
If you are looking for something to do this weekend, come and check out the Young Talent Showcase. Take a break from shopping at the Houston Premium Outlets and watch these talented kids as they try to reach their dreams. I love watching kids perform! It’s so amazing when you see a tiny little girl, then you hear her voice and say to yourself “Where does that come from?”
The showcase is from 1:00pm to 5:00pm in the Cowboy Court and it’s presented by Coca-Cola.
See how amazing this little girl is:

5 Ways to Keep Your Mind Sharp

I was talking to my friend about how we do the same routine every day. We got into a discussion about how we keep our minds from getting bored. At the end of my day I like to read books, this is a great exercise for the mind. I also like to meditate because this helps my mind focus and quiet down, I think that’s a very important skill to attain.
She told me that she had been struggling with this and found a great article about ways to keep your mind sharp. I read the article and definitely thought it was helpful. Below are 5 tips that are most useful:
- Do a brain teaser. Working crossword puzzles or doing sodukus helps get the mind going
- Relax. Stress can overwhelm you brain. Try yoga or meditation.
- Eat Fish. Essential fatty acids, such as Omega 3s, are critical to brain function.
- Get Your Rest. When we don’t sleep, a recent study found, proteins build up on synapses, possibly making it hard to think and learn new things.
- Eat regularly. This gives the brain a constant flow of energy through out the day.

3 Tips to Stop Worrying

Hello to all the worriers out there!
Do you find yourself constantly worrying? I used to be like that, I would even do work in my sleep. That’s when I had to put a stop to it. I was talking to a friend about this and she had some great suggestions on ways to let things go. The suggestions that I have found most useful are:
- Listen to a calming CD. There are plenty of relaxation CDs out there to pick from. My favorite is Marianne Williamson. The CD has meditations for all aspects of live and really helps me stop the worrying.
- Journal. The best thing to do is get out all of the compulsive thoughts. I love to journal; it is very personal, no one can read it so I can get everything out without feeling I might sound stupid.
- Yoga. Exercise always helps your body release stress. For me, when I do Yoga I forget about everything because I am concentrating to hard on the poses. I also like to box, which I know is opposite type of exercise but it works.
What are other tips you have to stop stressing?

Having Trouble Finding A Job

Have you been on job search for a while? I know I was and got very sick and tired of it. I was talking to my recruiter and we went over my expectations, resumes, and interviews to help figure out where I was going wrong.
I found out that my expectations were a little too high; I was communicating more about me and not what I can bring to the company, and taking things too personally.
Below are a few of the questions she asked me which were very helpful to finding out where I was going wrong:
- What are your expectations? Are they too high?
- Are you only using a few resources?
- Are you demonstrating long term potential?
- Are you making the same interview mistakes over and over?
- Are you putting your job search on hold every time you get an interview?
I hope these help you like they helped me.
Do you have any other questions people should consider?

Have you seen Iron Man 2?
If not, make sure you go and watch it. The movie was action filled and had me at the edge of my seat the whole time. I usually get sleepy or tired of sitting, but I surprisingly didn’t.
If you have seen the movie, what was your favorite part?
Alicia’s Mexican Grille

Talk about amazing Mexican Food! I had Alicia’s Mexican Grille the other day and it was awesome. I have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant for a while. It’s located at 26326 Northwest Freeway.
I had the Senor Burrito with no meat since I am vegetarian and it was delicious. All the veggies tasted fresh, there wasn’t too much cheese, and their salsa is not too spicy. My friend had the mushroom enchiladas which I tasted and they were great!
Overall our experience was really good! The staff was friendly and place seemed very clean. I highly recommend this place if you have not been before.
What are some other restaurants you recommend?
